Santorini Day 4

We ate breakfast, headed to one of the local bakeries, and then to the port for our ferry back to Athens. These giant sesame seed encrusted rings are the breakfast of choice for many of the locals. We tried one and discovered that sometimes beneath the sesame seeds lurk many chocolate chips. The combo of seeds and chocolate chips is an odd one but it is delicious.
Andrew and Chase posing for one more photo before we got to the port. This is the caldera, which is basically the leftovers once the volcano exploded way back when. The black stuff on the island in the middle of the picture is lava that has cooled in rough structures that haven't worn down at all.

Nothing says vacation like chocolate croissants. We had some waiting for our boat to arrive. I think I could just take a tour of bakeries and be happy with this vacation.

Doesn't this look amazing?

Our boat was delayed leaving shore by a tourist who lay on the floor at the back of the boat by the bathrooms and refused to move due to sea sickness. Her Australian boyfriend hovered nearby, trying to cajole her into sitting in a seat and smiling nervously at everyone nearby. I don't know how the crew handled it, but eventually we departed.

We arrived in Piraeus, which is pronounced with a very definite "oosh" at the end and then walked to our hotel. Our room is the only room on the seventh floor and has a balcony, which seems to be standard. Balconies are a right in Greece, not a luxury. Soap, shampoo, and tiny bottles of lotion are not standard at hotels, but balconies are.
