Delphi

Today we drove to the mountain town of Delphi.

First we picked up a tiny car at the Athens airport. It is so small that we could only fit three of our little backpacks in the "trunk." It is just perfect for driving in Greece, though, because the roads are narrow and steep, and parking is hard to come by.

Since we're talking about cars, check out this Shell gas station we saw today UNDER a hotel. See the balcony above? You won't find that in Chicago!

The drive up to Delphi was three hours of green, blooming plants and mountains.

You can see the Gulf of Corinth straight down the mountain from our hotel window. Delphi is a ski town all winter, which means it is very well maintained and is a bit of a tourist trap, but the setting is so beautiful that you don't even care. Or I don't, anyway.

We were welcomed (pressured? Sometimes hospitality is a little enthusiastic in Greece.) into a restaurant and found our way to the back of it, where we found this incredible view.

The waiter told us this was hummus. It seemed like it had feta and Greek yogurt, so some kind of hummus different than we are used to, and fantastically delicious. Dash thought it was something sweet, took a big bite, and was vastly disappointed. As he told me when he was three, he doesn't have a sweet tooth. All of his teeth are sweet.

Chase with his daily Gyro. This one was so big that he wound up basically covered in sauce by the end of the meal. I think he would forfeit his gelato if he had to choose between Gyros and gelato.

Dash trying to figure out how to begin eating his pizza.

Sights around Delphi. We'll hit the museum tomorrow. The town alone was worth the trip!
